CocoNutty frozen banana chocolate balls- a SuperFood

Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup of raw cocoa powder for oen batch (3/4 cup carob powder for 2nd batch)
  • 1 cup almonds (enough for 2 plus batches)
  • 1 cup sunflower seeds (enough for 2 plus batches)
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1 tbs organic raw Lucuma powder
  • 1 tbs organic raw Maca powder
  • 1 tbs organic raw Mesquite powder 
  • 1 tbs Mucuna powder
  • 1 tbs Shilajit powder
  • Himalayan salt (a pinch in 3tbs of warm water...to use a tsp of the water)
  • Raw honey and for 2nd batch Dates (sweeten to preference)
  • 1 raw vanilla bean (extract bean seeds and mix in with tsp of coconut oil)
  • liquid vanilla creme stevia (fore more sweetening and vanilla flavor)
  • 3 frozen bananas chopped up into bite size pieces

I made 2 batches....3 actually.  2 using chocolate, and 1 using carob powder, a no-caffeine alternative to chocolate (looks like chocolate but tastes slightly different, but still makes for a delicious treat!). 
I sweetened one chocolate batch with dates, and the other with Honey. I sweetened the carob one with dates.  
Not viewed in the photo was mucuna powder and shilajit which I did add. However I did not add the ashwagandha. I am sharing photos from a previous batch where I used agave instead of honey and dates, but my preferred recipe is the healthier version with dates and honey as sweetener, and the added super powders of mucuna and shilajit.

fluoridation- take action!

The fluoridation empire is continuing to crumble!  This September alone, there have already been four community victories against fluoridation.  But, before we get to the details of these great victories, we need your help.



We have the unprecedented opportunity to request that President Obama end all federal involvement in the promotion, endorsement, and funding for fluoridation of the public's drinking water.  If we can collect 5,000 signatures in the next 30 days, or by October 26, White House staff will review it, ensure it's sent to the appropriate policy experts, and issue an official response.

September Victories

This month, four more communities around the world have stopped fluoridating their drinking water.  In the United States, City Councils in both Hohenwald, Tennessee and College Station, Texas voted almost unanimously to end decades of fluoridation.

Hohenwald is the second Tennessee city in the last month to remove fluoride from its water system, following Spring Hill's vote in August.  According to the Hohenwald City Recorder, there were several reasons for the City Council's unanimous decision, including saving $9,000 a year, and the questionable health benefits of adding fluoride.

This past Thursday in Texas, the College Station City Council voted 6-1 to end 22 years of fluoridation because of the $42,000 a year price tag, and because of the abundance of dental products containing fluoride.  College Station has a population of nearly 100,000, and is home to Texas A&M University, which has 42,000 students.

In Canada, the community of Slave Lake, Alberta announced that on October 1st, fluoride will no longer be added to drinking water.  The decision is said to have followed considerable research and discussion, as well as the lead of other Canadian communities like Calgary.

In the UK, residents of Southampton, along with Hampshire Against Fluoridation, collected 6,000 signatures to force the city council to debate a motion on withdrawing its support for fluoridation.  In response, the City Council voted by a majority of 2-1 in opposition to fluoridation.  Unfortunately, the Council's vote may not be enough to prevent the regional health authority from implementing fluoridation.  Upcoming federal reforms are expected to give local councils the power to end fluoridation by 2013.  This vote will give the city council the authority to prevent fluoridation as long as possible, and at the least, be able to end fluoridation in 2013 if it's mandated by the government.

The onion is a member of the lily family, a close relation of garlic.  It is often called the "king of vegetables" because of its pungent taste. 
There are many varieties of the onion; white, yellow, red and green globes.  They also differ in size, color and taste.  The smaller onions come in many varieties such as the green onion, or scallion which includes chives, leeks and shallots.

Respiratory:  Mix equal amounts of onion juice and honey and take 3-4 teaspoons of this mixture daily.  It helps liquefy mucus and prevents its further formation.  It is also one of the best preventive potion against common cold.

Sexual debility:  Onion is a potent aphrodisiac and stands second only to garlic.  For this, the white variety is most effective.

Urinary tract infection:  Boil some onion in water till half of the water evaporated.  Sieve the onion water, leave to cool and drink.  The anti-bacterial properties help to relieve the burning sensation in urination.

Consumption Tips
When buying onions, choose onions that are well-shaped, have dry and crisp outer skins.  Avoid those which are already sprouting or have signs of decay, wilting or discolored tops.
Onions can be stored at room temperature but keep them in a well ventilated area, away from bright light to prevent roots from growing.  Do not put them together with potatoes as they will absorb the moisture and ethylene gas from potatoes and rot faster.
To prevent tears when cutting onions, chill the onions for about an hour before peeling, or peel them in a tub of water.  It is the sulfur compounds that is released in the air that irritates the eyes. Cut onions are to be stored in an air-tight condition to prevent oxidization.  Use within one or two days.

Lemons

 Lemon is an inexpensive, easily available citrus fruit, popular for its culinary and medicinal uses. It is used to prepare a variety of food recipes such as lemon cakes, lemon chicken and beverages like lemonade and lemon-flavored drinks. It is also used for garnishing. Lemon juice consists of about 5% citric acid that gives a tarty taste to lemon. Lemon is a rich source of vitamin C. It also contains vitamins like vitamin B, riboflavin and minerals like calcium, phosphorus, magnesium as well as proteins and carbohydrates. Lemon is generally consumed in the form of lemon juice or lemon water. Lemon water makes a healthy drink, especially when taken in the morning. Daily consumption of lemon water provides a number of health benefits like:

Lemon can help relieve many digestion problems when mixed with hot water. These include nausea, heartburn and parasites. Raw Onion Bread sandwhich

Doesn't sound too appetizing with the word raw but wow I found a new raw food favorite! I've been craving a sandwich but don't eat bread now so I was really looking forward to making this.

Ingredients: 
3 large red onions
3/4 c flax seed, freshly ground

3/4 c raw sunflower seeds, soaked, then ground in a food processor
1/2 c Nama Shoyu  
1/3 C olive oil 


makes 9 sandwich servings (around 210 calories per serving)


Recipe: 
Blend the flax and the sunflower seeds. Mix all ingredients...then add the onions to mix in.
Peel onions, cut the onions with a slicing disk, transfer to a large mixing bowl, add the remaining ingredients, and mix until all are thoroughly combined.  
Spread half the mount of mixture evenly on 2 dehydrator trays with a teflex sheet.  It took up 2 sheets for me with 2 inch borders, for perfect 9 pieces each (for 9 sandwiches). Dehydrate at 100 degrees for 24 hours flip the crackers onto a tray and dehydrate another 12 hours.  Once dehydrated cut into 9 equal pieces each, fill with with your sandwich favorites, and enjoy!  Where I had the dehydrator it smelled like a Japanese restaurant, so yummy ^_^

I ate the left over avocado and tomato mixed with the spare lettuce as a side salad...all very filling and extremely flavorful!
