Steel Cut Oats with Manuka honey

Ingredients
1/4 Cup Organic Steel Cut Oats

1 teaspoon Wild Cape Manuka Honey
1 cups unsweetened vanilla coconut milk
water to add as needed
1 banana
cinnamon

Directions
Rinse Quinoa. Sometimes it's pre-rinsed, but I always rinse it again.  Heat almond milk and quinoa on high until it simmers. Add 1 tsp of Manuka honey and sprinkle cinnamon.  Mix well and turn heat to medium low, a slow simmer and cover. Set timer for 20 minutes. Keep and eye on it so it doesn't dry out and burn, keep adding a few TBsps of water if it dries up and keep it well stirred.  After 20 minutes it's ready to serve! Chop up bananas and add to the oats.

Let ingredients simmer for 20 minutes
Stir regularly so it doesn't burn, add water if it gets too dry before steel oats have softened
Mix in chopped up banana after transferring to a bowl, and it's ready to eat!

6 Moves That Flatten Your Belly Better Than a Waist Trainer

Photo: Getty Images
You’ve probably heard about the latest trend in belly-trimming, and maybe even considered trying it. That’s right, I’m talking about none other than waist training. These devices, which wrap tightly around the waist and lower ribs, promise to actually coach your body to shed inches off your midsection. But if they seem too good to be true, that’s because they are. The reality: there’s no such thing as quick, magical fixes for your trouble spots. If you’re looking for a legit way to whittle your middle, try this “waist training” exercise routine. Repeat the series below three times, resting for one minute between sets.

Side plank with twist

Get into a side plank position on your left forearm with your feet either stacked or staggered. Place your right hand behind your head and keep it there while you try to bring your elbow towards the floor. Be sure to contract your obliques during this motion. Raise back to starting position. Repeat for 15 reps, then switch sides.

V-ups or knee hugs

Lie on your back with your legs straight and your arms over head. Take both arms and both legs towards eachother so that they meet above your waist. Squeeze your abs in as you slowly lower down to the floor. Repeat for a total of 15 reps. If this is too difficult, you can try knee hugs. For this variation, do the same movement, except with bent knees.

Why You Should Sleep on Your Left Side

This Is Why You Should Sleep on Your Left Side (Backed by Science)

Health Lifestyle Scienceby
We all know that duration of sleep is critical for mental and physical wellbeing, but it turns out that sleep position may be another important factor in the quest for optimum health.

Specifically, a small body of research suggests that, for many people, sleeping on the left side may be the ticket to better health and better sleep. The theory stems from Ayurveda, a holistic approach to health and medicine that originated in India.

So why all the fuss about sleeping on the left side? Turns out it may be good for our digestion, our backs, and even our hearts due to the positions of different organs. Here are six potential benefits that may be derived from catching some Zzzs while lying on your left side.

sleeping-on-the-left-side

1. It bolsters the lymphatic system.

According to Ayurvedic medicine, sleeping on your left side allows your body to better filter lymph fluid and waste via the lymph nodes as the left side of our body is the dominant lymphatic side. Western research has also found that sleeping on the left side can help the body process waste materials from the brain. In contrast, sleeping on your right side can decrease the lymphatic system’s efficiency.

2. It may improve digestion.

When it comes to digestion, sleeping on the left side may be preferable to the right due to the simple matter of gravity. Specifically, lying on the left side allows food waste to easily move from the large intestine into the descending colon (meaning you’re more likely to have a bowel movement upon waking). Sleeping on the left side also allows the stomach and pancreas to hang naturally (our stomach lies on the left side of the body), which can keep the development of pancreatic enzymes and other digestive processes humming. (Need help visualizing this process? Consult the image above).

3. It’s good for your heart.

Doctors have long recommended that pregnant women sleep on their left side in order to improve circulation to the heart. Even if you’re not pregnant (or a woman), sleeping on the left side may help to take some pressure off the heart, as gravity can facilitate both lymph drainage toward and aortic circulation away from the heart. That said, it should be noted that there’s some debate over whether sleeping on the left or right side is best for heart health.

4. It’s ideal for pregnant women.

Sleeping on the left side doesn’t only improve pregnant women’s circulation. It can also help to relieve pressure on the back, keep the uterus from squeezing the liver, and increase blood flow to the uterus, kidneys, and fetus. For this reason, doctors tend to recommend that pregnant women spend as much of their sleep time as possible on their left sides.

5. It may reduce heartburn.

A study published in The Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology found that lying on the left side can help reduce acid reflux symptoms. Again this is because our stomach lies on the left side. Conversely, lying on the right side may aggravate these symptoms. The effects are fairly immediate; if you’re struggling with heartburn after a meal, try taking a 10-minute lie-down on your left side.

6. It may relieve back pain.

People who suffer from chronic back pain may benefit from switching to left-side sleeping. That’s because sleeping on your side can relieve pressure on the spine. Feeling more comfortable, in turn, will improve your chances of getting a good night’s sleep.

Note

While all of these factors point to compelling reasons to start sleeping on your left side, it’s important to note that some people—including those with heart disease, sleep apnea, glaucoma, and carpal tunnel syndrome—may not benefit from side sleeping. If you’re unsure about what sleep positions may be best for you, it’s always a good idea to consult a medical professional.

How to make the switch

If you are ready to make the switch, you’ll find that it may take some time to build the new habit of sleeping on your left side. Implementing a few simple strategies can help ensure a smooth transition. For instance, you may want to experiment with putting a body pillow behind your back so that it’s harder for you to roll off of your left side during sleep. It can also be helpful to try sleeping on the opposite side of the bed than you normally do; that way your sleep orientation won’t feel much different (even if you’re sleeping on your opposite side).

It will also be important to choose a mattress that’s ideal for side sleeping. Because sleeping on your side can put pressure on the hips and shoulders, it’s important to choose a softer mattress that will help relieve pressure in those areas. Also be sure to look for a mattress that allows the spine to rest in natural alignment. And of course, make sure that whatever mattress you choose feels comfortable to you. The combination of a comfy bed and a health-promoting sleeping position is sure to increase your chances of sleeping well and feeling great whenever you wake up.

My Experience & Log of The Amazing Liver and Gallbladder Flush by Andreas Moritz

April 19th 2016 Started the 1st Liver and Gallbladder Cleanse

What does the liver do? The liver helps with digestion and also helps remove toxins from the body. Among the substances it makes is bile, which helps digest fats, oils and fat-soluble vitamins like vitamin A. The bile the liver makes, is either taken up by the small intestine, or stored in the gallbladder. The liver plays a central role in all metabolic processes in the body.
This is the most important organ to detox because it is a processing plant and storage organ. It's responsible for removing toxins from the body so it is important that it is functioning clear and ready for the removing process.

Day 1 – Drink water throughout the day + 32 oz of apple juice or malic acid drink

Apple Juice - 6:15am8 oz of water with ½ tsp of Malic & 4oz of apple juice (1st)
Apple Juice – 10:30am8 oz of water with heaped ½ tsp of Malic & 4oz of apple juice (2nd)
1st meal – 1 small mango
Lunch – 2:00pmveggie soup w/ Spinach added
Apple Juice – 4:00pm 8 oz of water with ½ tsp of Malic & 4oz of apple juice (3rd)
Snack5:20pm - 1 small mango
Dinner – 6:30pm - veggie soup w/ Spinach added and Cabbage & Dill Sauerkraut
Before Bed – 10:30pmBedtime Golden Milk
Rested all day, recovering from a massive headache that started yesterday and continued all day today. This was not related to the cleanse prep, since it started before I started the prep.
_______

Day 2 – Drink water throughout the day + 32 oz of apple juice or malic acid drink

Apple Juice - 6:15am8 oz of water with ½ tsp of Malic & 4oz of apple juice (1st)
Breakfast – 11:00am – Pear, 1/4 cup steel cut oats with 1 banana
Apple Juice – 1:30pm 8 oz of water with heaped ½ tsp of Malic & 4oz of apple juice (2nd)
Lunch – 3:40pm – 2 cuties fruit, veggie soup w/ Spinach added
Apple Juice – 5:30pm 8 oz of water with ½ tsp of Malic & 4oz of apple juice (3rd)
Still recovering from my headache, my head only pounded when I’d mover around (unlike yesterday when it was continuous!) so I just rested all day.
_______

Day 3 – Drink water throughout the day + 32 oz of apple juice or malic acid drink
Apple Juice - 6:15am8 oz of water with ½ tsp of Malic & 4oz of apple juice (1st)
Breakfast – 12:00am – 2 cuties fruit, 1/4 cup steel cut oats with 10 prunes
Apple Juice – 2:00pm 8 oz of water with heaped ½ tsp of Malic & 4oz of apple juice (2nd)
When the sky cleared up I planted some lettuce seedlings in my garden, got some essential sunshine.
Apple Juice – 5:00pm 8 oz of water with ½ tsp of Malic & 4oz of apple juice (3rd)
I have an ERE machine so I used it for one hour before bed.
_______

Day 4 – Drink water throughout the day + 32 oz of apple juice or malic acid drink
Apple Juice - 7:00am8 oz of water with ½ tsp of Malic & 4oz of apple juice (1st)
Breakfast – 10:50am – 1 small mango, 1 small organic papaya
Apple Juice – 1:30pm 8 oz of water with heaped ½ tsp of Malic & 4oz of apple juice (2nd)
Apple Juice – 5:45pm 8 oz of water with ½ tsp of Malic & 4oz of apple juice (3rd)
Worked out at the gym – went on the stepper for 20 minutes (I was feeling sluggish and just needed to move my body…typically you want to rest during the prep period of the cleans. The most beneficial thing to do is take a moderate walk daily, mostly because daily sun is essential while on the cleanse. For me, it rained all week, and I had a headache the first few days (unrelated to the cleanse, before I started so I just rested).
Used ERE machine for one hour before bed.
_______

Day 5 – Drink water throughout the day + 32 oz of apple juice or malic acid drink
Apple Juice - 7:00am8 oz of water with ½ tsp of Malic & 4oz of apple juice (1st)
Breakfast – 10:00am – 1 small mango, 1 small organic papaya
Apple Juice – 12:00pm 8 oz of water with heaped ½ tsp of Malic & 4oz of apple juice (2nd)
Apple Juice – 4:00pm 8 oz of water with ½ tsp of Malic & 4oz of apple juice (3rd)
Worked out at the gym – went on the stepper for 20 minutes. Again made me feel so much better. After my headache spell my whole body ached for some reason (I truly don’t believe it had much to do with the cleanse since it started before I started the cleanse prep) but I listened to my body and working out helped. I also did stretching and yoga at home. I also went to my garden to check on my lettuce transplants and planted some more lettuce seeds, and transplanted some green onions before the following day’s heavy rain.
Used ERE machine for one hour before bed.
Note - During the cleanse I had a puzzling weight gain. I went from being between 11lbs-115lbs up to 119.4lbs. I think with all the malic acid my body retained a lot of water. I felt super bloated and that uncomfortable started with my headache, so may not have been related to the cleanse but the cleanse didn’t help whatever was going on with me. Today weighed 119.4lbs
_______

Day 6 – Drink water throughout the day + 32 oz of apple juice or malic acid drink
Apple Juice –7:00am-9:00am – 8oz apple juice with 1 ½ tsp malic acid (24oz water) sip slowly for 2 hours
12:30pm – Colonic appointment. There I got to use a Chi machine and Far Infrared Hothouse dome for 20 minutes before my colonic. I felt amazing after! If I had $1,340 to spare, I’d by them both! Before they had the ERE machine there to use which is how I found out about it and knew immediately it was something I had to buy, which is why I not own one, and am super happy with the purchase.
5:45pm – Add 4 tablespoons of epsom salts + 24oz water (divided into 4 servings of 6oz each)
6pm – Drink the 1st serving of epsom salt water (6oz)
Ok I have to make a note on Epsom salt…it’s the most terrible thing I’ve consumed for my health to this date. It’s super bitter and even if you don’t breathe through your mouth while drinking the 6 oz (which I highly recommend for some relief) you still taste the extreme bitterness. The thought repels me! However, I have found that squeezing some lemon into a glass with about an ounce of water and swishing some in your mouth before and immediately after really helps get the taste out. It’s hard to avoid tasting it during the drinking process though, but that only lasts as fast as you can chug it. I then immediately rinsed and gargled with mouthwash.
8pm – Drink the 2nd serving of epsom salt water (6oz)
I weighed myself at this point and I’m back down to 114.4lbs (not surprisingly because I hadn’t eaten all day and had a colonic. But I can’t wait to get back to my more vigerous workouts! But it’s imperative to take it super easy the days of, and after doing the liver cleanse. Andreas describes it as post-surgery, your body is undergoing a pretty intense procedure.  Plus-side! No cutting open or anesthesia or ingesting anything unnatural…another reason I so highly recommend this Liver cleanse! Did you know the liver takes the longest for its cells to completely rejuvenate out of all the organs of your body? It takes 7 years. So you can be an entirely renew body in 7 years if you start making all healthy choices now! Incredible! It’s Never too late to improve your health.
10pm – Mix 4oz grapefruit juice w 4oz olive oil and drink it.  Then lay down on bed with head elevated for 20 minutes. Then lay down on bed with head elevated for 20 minutes with pillow propped up to avoid nausea and possible heartburn. Put warm compress of Apple Cider Vinegar on Liver and focus on liver.  After 20 minutes go to sleep.

_______

Day 7 – Drink water throughout the day after last epsom salt mix
6:30am – drink some warm water then the 3rd ¾ cup of Epsom salt mix
Meditated for 25 minutes with Inner Balance HeartMath (Very important to rest this day)
Warning, Not for the squeamish* - I was Super pleased with this cleanse! I passed a ton of stones. They appear light green and for me they were mostly very small, but noticed one large one about 2cm by 1cm. I started releasing stones at 8:30am, right before the 4th and last Epsom salt drink.  During my sleep I woke up to use the rest room once, but only passed clear liquid, which you will experience as of the colonic. The Epsom salt really does a number the help with this, essential for clearing the path for the passing of the softened stones.  All releases from your body this day before meals will be pure liquid and stones, so they are easy to identify.
So far this was an extremely successful Liver flush for me. I will definitely be doing a second one in May…following this flush exactly. In the past I have suffered from terrible nausea which is common, but this time I only felt a little light headed in the morning after, which is common due to fasting the day before and all the hard work your body is going through in the flushing process. After several passing session I now feel so much better already! Just the thought of how many stones are no longer in my body make me feel mentally so excited and appreciative for the whole process, and my ability to go through it.
8:30am: Drink your fourth and 4th and last ¾ cup of Epsom salt mix.
10:00am – ½ cup of Organic Mango Probiotic juice
At 12pm I weighed 110.8 lbs. Finally back to my regular weight range...however this is with a very empty stomach! I continue to release stones with every release, so far about 6 times.

12:00pm – 1 small mango
2:00pm1 small papaya
3:30pm - 6 dove dark chocolate squares
Went for a leisurely walk from 4:00pm-5:00pm. It felt amazing in the crisp air. Moving my body when my energy slowly came back felt great. Fueled on mangoes, papaya and I confess a few dove dark chocolate before my walk;) my weakness that I couldn't wait to get back to!
5:00pm - Vega Sport Recovery Accelerator, Tropical with 1 Tbs of Great Lakes Gelatin Collagen Hydrolysate
Dinner – 6:00pmQuinoa with Cauliflower and Zucchini curry
Before Bed – 9:00pmBedtime Golden Milk
_______

Day 8 – Drink plenty of water throughout the day
12:30pm – Colonic appointment
Eat normal from here on

I highly suggest buying the book and reading all the very important information it offers before attempting this flush! If you don't want to buy the updated book, I have provided a link to a PDF of the first published book.
