The only thing I can think of that Binky hates done more than anything vet related has got to be bath time. I so wish she could love and enjoy the water, but she's just not there yet. We try to make bath time relaxing, fun and as non-intimidating as possible but she will still whimper the entire time and try to get as far away from the water as she can. Needless to say, mama ends up just as wet as she does, with cuddles in between rinses.
After some cuddles when it's back in the sink to get rinsed off she'll go as far as to try to crawl up my body and climb over me to get as far away from the water as she can. Ear Cleaner
Unfortunately when Binky arrived she came with ear mites. This made her ears very dirty and so they needed to be treated and cleaned. The vet didn't catch it the first two visits! And apologized on the 3rd for not checking close enough when I asked her to clean them because she was so itchy, then discovered mites. She gave me Maxi-Otic for her ears after the ear mite treatment but I did not want to expose her to an antibiotic unnecessarily because she did not have an ear infection. I'm glad I avoided that because she got over it with just cleaning. However cleaning was another hard task. At least it wasn't medicine that needed to be dosed and done daily for 10 consecutive days! But even getting liquid in one ear was a huge fete, successful barely every 3-4 days if even. The smell of the Vet's best solution alone put her in avoidance mode. It's a natural cleaner with a strong smell. So I got her a more gentle smelling one, but still, anything near her ears she doesn't like. Below are the gentle natural choices I got for her.
Eye Cleaner
One of the places that needs the most cleaning on Binky daily are her eyes. She tends to accumulate a lot of goop that is quite difficult to clean. I end up cleaning her eyes at least twice a day if not more just to keep them goop free. After reading an article on Mercola's site, I purchased some Colloidal silver, that I saturate on a cotton pad to gently clean around her eyes to avoid any irritation and kill germs. I have used Colloidal silver for many years as an oral spray to fight germs.
- Contains bio-active true colloidal silver – The type of colloidal silver I consider to be the ultimate in refinement and purity
- Is free from salts, proteins, and oxidizing compounds – These types of compounds can potentially contaminate the silver supplement

Nail Trimming
Her first nail trimming with me was done at the vet's office. I brought my filer with me to ask her to show me how. She said her nails were very long and it might be hard to get her to stay still to file down the 1/2 cm needed. So I paid for the service there. I then regretted it as she screamed at every clip! In my opinion they cut too far! But the ladies insisted she was ok and they didn't hit the quick. It's harder to see where that is on dogs with black nails. I wish they would have cut less to absolutely avoid any pain. Well I learned my lesson and as originally planned, will do her nails myself with the gentle filer, even if I have to do just a couple nails a day, and get it done weekly. The vet said filing might need to be done more frequently if not a lot is filed at a time. I'm ok with that. This tool is fairly quiet and doesn't seem to be distressing around Binky, however any tool to her is a toy and she doesn't yet like to stay still for anything. But anything to me is better than watching groomers hold her down in distress! Never again.
