11-Day Water Only Fast - Day 7

The Colonization of the intestine with bacteria plays an important role in keeping people healthy. In this Episode Leonard Wilhelmi, the managing director of Buchinger Wilhelmi Lake Constance talks with Dr Francoise Wilhelmi de Toledo, the scientific director of the Fasting clinics about the influence of fasting on the composition of the microbiome. The Buchinger Wilhelmi clinics published a Study on Fasting and the effects on the human gut microbiome in the Journal of Nutritional Science last year, which represents the scientific foundation of the discussion.

Day seven, as mentioned, I had a terribly night’s sleep on the night after day 6, but still managed to feel ok getting up in the morning and feeling good! It was just my luck that of all mornings, I had to wake up extra early at 6:30am to take my pup to a dental appointment, so right when the sleepiness was hitting me (after tossing and turning since 3am) I had to get up. But we move on.

Feeling great and energized, I took the time to get a lot of house cleaning and odd jobs done in the house...with no distractions from my adorable, needy pup!

I didn’t take an additional walk today, apart from my short half mile walk with my pup before her appointment, but I tried to keep moving, and my body and muscles felt great! I feel so much lighter and more flexible. Through the day I pick up some hand wights and do a couple of arm exercises, and several squats. Need to keep those muscles moving, even though my calorie expenditures is super low without long walks...but I'm ok with that, now is a time for healing and a lot of rest.

Even with the lack of sleep I had a great day, feeling as energized as I can expect to feel without any food in my belly. I do need to note that day I had a cup of organic herbal succulent tea. I thought I'd try including more herbal teas for the second half of my fast. To my surprise, not long after I had a very small bowel movement. This was shocking because I thought my colon was complete emptied after the morning of the second day. I failed to mention that on day one I took two portions of Coloson, a powder made up of a high dose of Magnesium that gently cleanses with oxygen, and it works incredibly well! It kicked in after around 12 hrs and completed in about 26 hours (morning of 2nd day of fasting). I used to use it when doing the Andreas Liver cleanse. In conclusion, I figured whatever succulent herbs that were in the loose-leaf tea helped my body pushed out whatever was remaining.

That experience was actually quite motivating for me to continue, as it showed my body was still in the processing of clearing out and detoxing to reset itself. Not that I'm lacking inspiration and motivation to see this to the end.

I have to day though, I didn't get in much exercise, however I figured my body could use a nice day of rest. When I picked up my pup at 4pm, she was coming out of anesthesia and drug meds from having her teeth cleaned and three teeth pulled! So, all I wanted to do was snuggle with her in bed so I could keep her happy as she healed. We then got up at 5:45pm and I fed her some food, then pretty much went back into bed to snuggle until I had to head off to work at 8pm.

So, all in all a very successful day, and week of water fasting!

My weight this morning was 121 lbs and 26.9% body fat.
