Raw Hemp Meal Replacement

From Earth Shift Products

Now that I've gotten into a pretty intensive daily workout routine it's been very important for me to get not only a great protein source for after workout but a full punch nutritious meal to start my day off. I'm not a big breakfast eater so a shake is a perfect way for me to start my day. That brought me to do a review of an old favorite, a Raw Hemp meal replacement. The easiest way for me to consume it in the morning is with one banana and some almond milk, and a few ice-cubes to cool is down, for a delicious treat at breakfast. The taste is something I'm very used to, so I would say it's delicious, but if you are very new to healthy protein drinks you may find it slightly earthy, but easy to get used to and love.

It's also Vegan approved and Paleo diet compatible!

Hemp Protein Elixir MRE is a revolutionary freeze-dried powdered vegan raw food from organically grown green super foods, many kinds of whole grains and sea algae.

NON-GMO, VEGAN, ENZYME-RICH and DAIRY FREE are designed to "Fuel Your Fitness" of all lifestyles.  Nutritionally balanced and rich in raw, organic ingredients, Elixir can boost energy, enhance metabolism, strengthen the immune system, cleanse toxins and waste materials and improve your health.

Soy FREE. Gluten FREE. Hexane FREE.

Our hemp protein powder contains all 20 essential amino acids including the 9 essential amino acids (EAAs) our bodies cannot produce. Proteins are considered complete when they contain all 9 essential amino acids in a sufficient quantity and ratio to meet the body's needs. Hemp seeds contain an adequate supply of these high quality proteins (EAAs) for a well balanced diet. Hemp seed oil has been dubbed "Nature's most perfectly balanced oil," it contains the perfectly balanced 3:1 ratio of Omega 6 to Omega 3 essentials fatty acids, required for healthy human nutrition. It also contains smaller amounts of 3 other polyunsaturated fatty acids in gammalinolenic acid (GLA), oleic acid and stearidonic acid. Many common illnesses are related to deficiencies or imbalances of specific fatty acids, in the body. Symptoms are related to a lack of Omega 3 & Omega 6 fatty acids.

A healthy diet that includes a balanced ratio of essential fatty acids, promotes healthy skin and a strong immune system. It has been proven in several clinical studies that dietary supplementation with EFAs or their metabolites (such as GLA) will often prevent or even cure certain illnesses. Since hemp seed oil contains both EFAs in a desirable balance while also providing two of the EFA metabolites, it is a good resource for the prevention and treatment of certain illnesses. Hemp seed oil also provides an adequate supply of antioxidants (Vitamin E), carotene (precursor to Vitamin A), phytosterols, phospholipids and a number of minerals including calcium, magnesium, sulfur, potassium, phosphorus, along with modest amounts of iron and zinc. Hemp seed oil also provides a good source of chlorophyll. And lastly, unlike other Omega-rich alternatives (flax, evening primrose, borage or fish oils) that are sold mainly as a vitamin supplement, hemp seed has a flavorful "nutty" taste that can easily be added into most any recipe to obtain a balanced diet!
  • Excellent source of essential fatty acids including Omega 3, 6 and GLA
  • Lower blood ldl CHOLESTEROL LEVELS
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Improve cardiovascular circulation and function
  • Improve organ function
  • Improve immunity levels
  • Increased energy levels and metabolic rate
  • Reduce symptoms of PMS and menstrual cramps
  • Reduce inflamation and the symptoms of arthritis

Post-Workout Smoothie

Ultimate Green Protein powder - The Ultimate Post-Workout Smoothie
 Today marks my one month anniversary since I joined a gym. Haven't missed a day of working out! It's been wonderful, and I've noticed such a great improvement in my energy and vitality.  I do a session of cardio for an hour each day with weights every other day.  My focus is to build strength, and tone my body.

I'm well aware of the importance of protein consumption after working the muscles. It's important to feed the muscles within the first thirty minutes after a workout with a healthy clean source of protein.  This brought me to search for the best source available.

I had a few points my source needed to include. I wanted an all plant base, vegan source, that was USDA certified organic that included superfoods for an extra boost.  It also needs to be dairy free, soy free, gluten free and egg gree.  I also wanted it to be something simple that I could have within a half house after working out.  Since I love smoothies so much, it made sense to find a green protein powder.

Enter in the perfect product for my post-workout, the Ultimate Green Protein powder from Earth Shift Products.  Not only is it organic, and an all plant-based product, but it includes superfoods that holds a perfect balance of green nutrients that help to mineralize and alkalize the body while providing substantial protein for musculloskeletal development and maintenance, just what I needed. Each serving gives me 16g of highly digestible protein! And only 2g of sugar. It's also a great source of Vitamin A and iron.

Each serving of Ultimate Green Protein powder offers a complete source of essential and non-essential amino acids. It also includes live bio-available enzymes, bio-available plant-based vitamins and minerals. It also provides essential chlorophyll, as it includes organic Chlorella and organic Spirulina (two superfoods I highly recommend and try to consume as often as possible).  It also qualitfies under all my "musts", as far as being soy free, dairy free, gluten free, egg free and vegan.

 I prepare my smoothy fairly simply.  I include one frozen banana, three fourth cup of frozen blueberries, strawberries, one school of green powder and enough almond milk to mix it all together.
  Ultimate Green Protein powder back label. For a more thorough explanation for all the amazing benefits of each ingredient please visit the ESP website here.
 The ingredients in each scoop of Ultimate Green Protein powder include:
Organic Brown Rice Protein, Organic Hemp Protein, Organic Chlorella, Organic Spirulina, Organic Whole Leaf Stevia, Organic Wheat Grass Juice Powder, Organic Oat Grass Juice Powder, Organic Alfalfa Grass Juice Powder, Organic Barley Grass Juice Powder and Organic Kamut Grass Juice Powder.
 All ready to blend up...
The result is a very thick, very dark purple mixture.
 A great way to end an amazing workout session!

Transdermal Salt & Magnesium Soak

Why and How To Do A Transdermal Salt and Magnesium Soak

http://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Epsom-salt-2.jpg

Posted by Victoria May Khaze

Why do a Salt Soak?
It’s been long called the body’s largest organ: the skin. Skin has the amazing ability to absorb and deliver nutrients to the body while filtering toxins.  Often the skin shows signs like rashes, dry/oily skin, acne and other problems as the tell sign of other deeper problems.  Your skin is both the window to understanding and the door to repairing your body’s health.

If you’ve ever been to a coastal region or any metropolitan city, you’re likely to have seen spas offering a variety of treatments to clean and benefit the body and skin.  Magnesium and Salt Soak or Bath is one that definitely shouldn’t be allowed to pass under the radar.

Salt and sea salt have long been used medicinally for their easy absorption into the body and high mineral content. It was Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine, who firths noticed injured fishermen soaking in sea water.

Hippocrates noticed that they seemed to have fewer infections after the soaks. It was then that he created the first sea salt soak called thalassotherapy (in Greek, thalassa means sea) by encouraging his patients to bathe in warmed seawater.

Why add magnesium?

Since then we’ve learned more about the nutrients and minerals our bodies need. Many suffer from a variety of mineral deficiencies.  The USA population has been studied and found to have severe Magnesium deficiency in over 57% of the population. (Read more about ionic magnesium.)

Magnesium is important for bone health, muscle strength, vitamin assimilation, and is helpful in other functions like aiding weight loss, sleep and balanced blood pressure. Unfortunately, it is sometimes difficult to absorb orally if you have a damaged stomach lining or intestines, a weak stomach, or a delicate pallet. That’s why many suggest adding magnesium to your salt soak.

What are the benefits of a Magnesium and Salt Soak?

  •          Stress & headache relief
  •          Muscle ache & joint pain relief
  •          Increasing insulin sensitivity
  •          Improving circulation
  •          Better nutrient absorption
  •          Can speeding up healing of wounds or broken bones
  •          For acne, eczema or other skin problems
  •          Improving skin hydration

How to make your own Magnesium and Salt Soak:

Amounts vary depending on your preference/tub size.

Prep time: 5-10 minutes
1-2 cup of Halite Salt Soak Crystals
1/2 cup Himalayan Sea Salt (Fine ground dissolves better but coarse ground can be used to message your feet in the bath)
5 Tbsp Pure Magnesium Oil
10-15 drops of essential oil of choice

Add the ingredients above to warm bath water as the bath is filling. The moving warm water will mix and dissolve the salts while the steam lifts the scent of your favorite oils into the air causing you to relax as you take in the aroma.

Let yourself relax and flow with the natural movement of the water while you soak for 20 to 40 minutes. Once you’re done soaking, use a towel to sit and softly pat yourself dry. While the water drains, the steam will slowly dissipate. Follow up with cool (not cold) lotion or oil to help lock in the moisture and minerals while closing your pores.

You’re now calm, clean and refreshed!

Morning Routine

Here is what my mornings usually look like.  I have gone through many stages of morning routines, and currently I'm going through a very cleaning start to my day that leaves me feeling great for my day ahead.  With my current schedule I don't get around to being in the kitchen til around 10am-11am, so the first thing I do is oil pull (not in photo) for about 20 minutes with pure organic coconut oil.  An excellent practice is to tongue scrape right before hand, and immediately after when rinsing out the oil. After my mouth is clean I pull out my two juices, usually grape or apple and mango...all organic and as natural as possible. Along with the juices are the additives, Brown Seaweed Extract and Dandelion Leaf Powder to add to the grape juice and the mango juice becomes the chaser.  I take about 2 oz (60 ml) of Aloe Vera water (which tastes just like water!) and use that to swallow my daily Complete Probiotics by Dr. Mercola (an excellent source), and BLUE ICE™ Royal Butter Oil / Fermented Cod Liver Oil Blend, in cinnamon flavor gel, my natural source of Omega 3, 6, 7 & 9 fatty acids plus many important fat soluble nutrients.  And last but not least 15 ml of Orgono, a source of living silica that I purchased from ESP. They no longer carry this one but not offer another excellent living silica product.  living Silica supplementation can be an aid in supporting healthy bones, joints, cartilage, nails, hair, teeth, gums and supporting collagen production for healthy, youthful-looking skin.   Living Silica is recommended for: Maintaining joint flexibility, providing joint support, protecting cartilage, osseous development and calcium assimilation; reducing swelling, enhancing ligaments.
I usually take the Cod Liver oil gel first and wash it down with the 15ml (1/2 oz) of living silica.  I then swallow the two Probiotic pills with the 60 ml (2 oz) of Aloe Vera.  I mix in 1/4 tsp of Brown Seaweed extract, and 1 tsp of Dandelion leave powder into around 8 oz of grape juice and stir until it's appropriately desolved. It won't desolve entirely. I then drink it all down without a breath and sip my pure mango juice after before taking a breath so I don't taste any unpleasant flavors!  Brown Seaweed does have a slight oceany taste, and dandelion leave extract is a little bitter, but is tamed down by a sweet fruit juice, and very tolerable chanced down with another fruit juice. This completes my healthy morning routine, that satisfies me until lunch time:)

Dandilon Leaf Powder Benefits

Dandelion Leaf (Taraxacum officinale) offers a number of benefits for the liver and gallbladder, two organs that desperately need detoxification in this day and age.  It is a natural diuretic as well. Dandelion Leaf is commonly used to help remove excess water and toxins from the body. Dandelion Leaf does wonders for digestion as it helps promote bile excretion from the liver so the body can more efficiently process foods and liquids while also purging harmful toxins. In addition, improved bile flow makes it possible for the body to better metabolize fat, which helps optimize the body’s cholesterol levels.

Dandelion Leaf is effective at stimulating a sluggish gallbladder, which is responsible for storing and excreting bile as the body needs it. This natural herb is very effective at promoting blood purity, which helps reduce the burden placed on the liver to filter out toxins. By helping to purify the blood, Dandelion Leaf allows the liver to more effectively perform its function.

This is a wonderful herb to add to your diet daily a month before performing a liver cleanse. Last year I followed Andreas Amazing Liver flush, with amazing results. Adding Dandelion Leaf to the per-cleanse will give your body an even easier time removing all those built up stones in you liver and gallbladder.

The many benefits of Dandelion Leaf Powder include:

Digestive Aid – Dandelion acts as a mild laxative that promotes digestion, stimulates appetite, and balances the natural and beneficial bacteria in the intestines.

Kidney – This weed-like superfood is a diuretic that helps the kidneys clear out waste, salt, and excess water. This inhibits microbial growth in the urinary system too.

Liver – Dandelion has been shown to improve liver function by removing toxins and reestablishing hydration and electrolyte balance.

Antioxidants – Every part of the dandelion plant is rich in antioxidants that prevent free-radical damage to cells and DNA, slowing down the aging process in our cells.

Cancer – Dandelion acts against cancer to slow its growth and prevent its spread. The leaves are especially rich in the antioxidants and phytonutrients that combat cancer.

Diabetes – Recent animal studies show promise that dandelion helps regulate blood sugar and insulin levels.

High Blood Pressure – As a diuretic dandelion increases urination which then lowers blood pressure. The fiber and potassium in dandelion also regulate blood pressure.

Cholesterol – Animal studies have shown that dandelion lowers and control cholesterol levels.

Gallbladder – Dandelion increases bile production and reduces inflammation to help with gallbladder problems and blockages.

Inflammation – Dandelion contains essential fatty acids and phytonutrients that reduce inflammation throughout the body. This can relieve pain and swelling.

Immune System – Animal studies also show that dandelion boosts immune function and fights off microbes and fungi.

I purchase my Dandelion Leaf from Earth Shift Products, that provide a wonderful organic 8oz packet that lasts a full month when taken daily.

How I consume dandelion leaf powder:

Each serving is around 500mg, to be taken 1-3 times daily.

You can add it to smoothies and shakes, or infuse it in a tea if you desire.

I prefer to have it in a fresh healthy and sweet juice such as apple juice or grape juice to help dilute the bitterness of the dandelion leaf, and to ingest it all in one go.
I add one to 2 teaspoons of powder to various juices, and drink it three times a day.
I always follow it with a full glass of water, as I do with my brown seaweed extract to aid in the cleansing and detoxification.

To store the powder it is critical that Dandelion is stored in a dark, dry, and cool place. I prefer to refrigerate it, which is recommended, or you can freeze it as well. This is recommended, but not necessary. Following these suggestions will delay the loss of its highly valued nutritional and medicinal properties, to reap the most benefits of the produce for its duration.

 Organic pure Grape juice and Dandelion leaf powder
 Two teaspoons of Dandelion leaf powder...then mix well. It won't dilute in juice but it will enough to drink down without any discomfort. The sweeter the juice the better, as it does have a slight bitter taste to it...but not unbearable!
Ah the magic power of Dandelion Leaf powder! ^_^

Health Benefits of Brown Seaweed

Brown seaweed may help prevent damaging effects of radiation!
You can find a Vegan, Gluten Free, GMO free, Raw, BPA free source of Brown Seaweed extract from Earth Shift Products by clicking HERE

by Tracey Roizman
Brown seaweeds, which mostly grow in cold waters of the Northern Hemisphere, form a large and diverse group of marine algae. Some forms of brown seaweed, such as kelp, are a nutritious, traditional food source, or taken as an extract.

Anti-Cancer

Fucoidan, a compound found in brown seaweed, may help prevent metastasis of lung cancer, according to a tissue culture study published in the 2012 issue of the journal "PLoS One." Kelp consumption may be partly responsible for lower rates of breast cancer and other hormone-related cancers among Asian women, according to a study published in the February 2005 issue of the "Journal of Nutrition." In the laboratory animal study, kelp lengthened the menstrual cycle, decreased estrogen levels and inhibited both estrogen and progesterone from binding to receptors on cells. Researchers concluded that kelp supplements may help modulate the endocrine system to help prevent some forms of cancer.

Weight Management

Supplementing with a derivative of brown seaweed known as fucoxanthin resulted in weight loss among obese participants of a study published in the January 2010 issue of the journal "Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism." In the study, 16 weeks of supplementation with a commercial product that combines fucoxanthin with pomegranate seed oil resulted in an average loss of 7.7 pounds and increased resting metabolic rate. Fat deposits in the liver also decreased and liver function tests improved with the brown seaweed extract. Researchers concluded that fucoxanthin may offer potential as a natural weight management supplement.

Radiation Protection

Brown seaweed may help protect against the damaging effects of radiation exposure, according to nutritionist Phyllis Balch, author of the book "Prescription for Dietary Wellness: Using Foods to Heal." A study published in the February 2004 issue of the journal "Health Physics" found that sodium alginate, an extract of brown algae, prevented absorption of radioactive strontium from contaminated milk. Researchers noted that the brown algae extract was highly effective and without toxic side effects.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you are like millions of other Dr. Oz fans, you take his helpful advice and you looked into brown seaweed extract that was featured as the latest 'gotta-have-it' weight loss aid, you're on to a good thing!
Keep in mind that a weight loss aid is just that and nothing more -- an aid to the arduous and sometimes exasperating process of lowering one’s caloric intake and increasing energy expenditure in order to lose weight.
In other words, don’t expect it to be like a miracle pill that does all the work for you that you yourself must do with disciplined behavior, proper nutrition and exercise. Now, let’s take a closer look at brown seaweed to see how it merits my seal of approval.
The brown seaweed extract that Dr. Oz touts for weight loss is fucoxanthin as mentioned above is a fat soluble carotenoid similar to lutein or lycopene found in several edible varieties of seaweed, including kelp or kombu (Laminaria species) and wakame  (Undaria pinnatidifida).
In mice, fucoxanthin was found to reduce abdominal fat, improve insulin resistance and lower blood glucose.
Fucoxanthin was also recently shown in vitro to have strong protective effects against breast cancer.
Brown Seaweed
In traditional Chinese medicine, brown seaweed such as kelp (Laminaria spp.) is a cold, salty herb which is said to reduce phlegm, soften and disperse hard accumulations or goiters, treat edema and cleanse the body of fat.
It is known as a medicinal food for the thyroid gland, due to the high amount of iodine it contains.
Seaweeds are also high in other nutrients such as: calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, chromium, copper, selenium and zinc and many B-vitamins.
Brown seaweeds also contain polysaccharides such as alginates and fucoidan.  Alginates have been shown to chemically bind toxic heavy metals and radioactive isotopes and aid in their elimination from the body.
Alginates are so effective at this job that brown seaweed was used to treat radiation sickness in Chernobyl disaster victims.
Fucoidan, another polysaccharide in brown seaweed, is the subject of prolific research -- numerous animal and in vitro studies in the last 10 years have shown that fucoidan has great potential as a cancer-fighting agent; as a treatment for viral and bacterial infections; as a therapy for myocardial ischemia and as an anti-obesity drug.
Taken all together, the research on brown seaweed shows that this food does contain many valuable components: soluble fiber, immune-enhancing fucoidan, detoxifying alginate, minerals, vitamins and antioxidant carotenoids, including fucoxanthin.
What a great product to kick start a cell rejuvenation process.
Something we all need, as we are faced with environmental pollutants on a daily basis!
 To prepare I chose to have it with some pure pineapple juice I had on hand...you want to get the freshest, most unrefined juice you can, better yet squeeze your own oranges or make fresh juice in a juicer.
 It's recommended to have 1/4 to 1/2 tsp with 4-6oz of juice. I chose to use half a tsp with slightly more juice, as I was sharing it with someone who also wanted to try it out.  They were surprised with how smoothly it went down:)
It blended very well in the juice after a good stir. I was very surprised at how well the sweet pineapple juice masked any seaweed taste it may have had. The product on its own does have a slight ocean smell, as any pure seaweed would, but was practically undetected while mixed in the juice.  It was definitely not hard to drink down:) I look forward to drinking it daily, and experiencing it's benefits!
