 At Jo-Ann fabrics I found this gorgeous colored Bernat Baby blanket yarn called Baby Teal. They seem to have a lot more options of colors at Jo-Ann Fabrics than at Michael's. 

 I was super happy to find this color because it matches my favorite pair of  mittens that I purchased awhile ago. So I had the opportunity to make a matching scarf and headband (tomorrow's post).

Unlike most of my other scarves, I made this one nice and long to wrap around my neck several times. I also made it thicker because I like it being able to stand up over my face to shield the wind without any effort to keep it in place.

Total time - 2hrs and 25 minutes

Measurements 66” x 5.5”

·         8 mm crochet hook or L hook

·         Bernat Blanket Yarn – Baby Teal

Pattern:

100 chains, turn

Skip 2 chains, in 3^rd chain double crochet, then double crochet in ever chain until the end

At the last chain double crochet then chain up 2 and turn work around

Double crochet in the same stitch as the 2 chains

Double crochet in each chain down the row until the end and repeat until the desired width

When done on each end of the width of the scarf do 11 rows of double crochet stitches (14 stitches) with 2 chains in the corners before turning and working into the very next available stitch

Crochet Baby Booties 2 - Pastel Blue & White

What a difference the yarn makes in size! The patterns are different but the top booties used less stitches. The pink pair are the booties I made with the Bernat Pitter Patter blanket yarn.

I made the 0-3 month size

Total time = 5 hours 25 minutes

·         3.5 mm crochet hook or E hook

·         lion brand® pound of love® yarn  Pastel Blue, & White

Pattern:

Booties (Make 2)

Foundation Chain (Sole): With color A ch 13.

Rnd 1: 2 hdc in 2nd ch from hook, 2 hdc in next ch, hdc in next 6 ch’s, dc in next 3 ch’s, 5 dc in last ch.
 Note: Now you will be working on the opposite side of the ch, make sure to weave in your loose yarn strand as you work.

Continuing Rnd 1: Working on the opposite side of the chain, dc in next 3 ch’s, hdc in next 6 ch’s, 2 hdc in next 2 ch’s, sl st into first hdc (31).
Now place your stitch marker.
Note: The ch 1 does not count as a stitch.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 hdc in next 2 sts, hdc in next 8 sts, dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next 5 sts, dc in next 3 sts, hdc in next 8 sts, 2 hdc in last 2 sts, sl st into first st (40).

Rnd 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in next 2 sts, sc in next 16 sts, 2 sc in next 4 sts, sc in next 16 sts, 2 sc in last 2 sts, sl st into first st (48).

Rnd 4: Working in back loops only sl st in each sc around (48).

Rnd 5 (Lower Boot): Working through the entire stitch, sc in each st around, sl st into first st (48).
Fasten off and weave in loose ends with a yarn needle.

Rnd 6: With right side of sole facing you, attach color B to the center back of the sole, hdc in each sc around (48).

Rnd 7: Hdc in next 16 hdc, (hdc2tog) repeat 8 times, hdc in next 16 hdc (40).

Rnd 8: (Hdc2tog) repeat 2 times, hdc in next 9 hdc, (hdc2tog) repeat 7 times, hdc in next 9 hdc, (hdc2tog) repeat 2 times (29).
Note: If you haven’t already weave in your loose yarn end with a yarn needle.

Rnd 9: (Hdc2tog), hdc in next 9 hdc, (dc9tog), hdc in next 9 hdc (20).
Rnd 10 (Upper Boot): 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 19 hdc (21).

Rnd 11: 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 20 hdc (22).
Rnd 12: 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 21 hdc (23).
Rnd 13: 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 22 hdc (24).
Rnd 14: 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 23 hdc (25).
Rnd 15: 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 24 hdc (26).
Rnds 16-17: Hdc in each hdc around.
Rnd 18: Attach color A , hdc in each hdc around, sl st into first st (26).

Fasten off and weave in loose ends with a yarn needle.

If you choose to add a bow:
Bootie Bow (Make 2)
Foundation Chain: With color A ch 5.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in remaining ch’s (4).
Rows 2-14: Ch 1, turn work, sc in each sc across.
Rnd 1: The bow will now be shaped like a rectangle; do not fasten off, ch 1, sc around the rectangle/bow (36).
Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.
Wind color B around the middle of the bow tightly about 20 times, weave in the tail end with a yarn needle.

Crochet Baby Booties 1 - Pitter Patter

 These booties are so soft and adorable in their chunkiness!  Because I used a blanket yarn, they turned out a little bigger than the booties shown in the video tutorial. The lady making it used a chunky yarn, but the Bernat blanket yarn is a Super Chunky yarn.

I decided not to stitch the booties folded over like the tutorial video, in case they wanted to be worn as a tall boot.
